Difficulty Levels

The difficulty ratings below are just a guide to help you choose the right tour to suit your abilities.

Photography tours can require long hours with limited time to sleep, eat and rest. Depending on location, accommodation and food options may be limited.

We may wake up early in the morning and/or go out late at night.

No matter how difficult the trip, don't expect a peaceful vacation.

Some amount of walking will be required to reach our photography destinations and a faster pace may be required to capture ideal conditions.

It is YOUR responsibility to choose a tour compatible with your individual physical condition and mobility. If in doubt, contact us.
EASY
-
Routes shorts com motor vehicle lasting approximately 45 minutes or less.

The daily cumulative walk will be approximately 1 kilometer or less.
-
The terrain is generally flat with few obstacles.

Depending on the location, we may be at higher altitudes, where the air is thinner.

The walk may have slight ups and downs with occasional steps.
-
All participants must have reasonable balance and mobility while carrying photographic equipment.
MODERATE

Routes of no more than 1 - 1:30 with a motor vehicle.

Daily cumulative walk of no more than 1 to 2 kilometers.
-
The terrain can be uneven with occasional obstacles to walking.
-
Loose sand, rocks and/or mud may be present.

There may be some short, steep sections, but overall, the grade will be moderate.

Hot or cold temperatures, along with high altitudes, can increase the perceived difficulty of the trip.
DIFFICULT

Longer walks range from 2 to 8 kilometers in distance.

The terrain can be rugged with significant obstacles. You may encounter loose sand, rocks, and uneven feet.

All participants must be in good physical shape with no mobility or balance issues - especially when carrying photographic equipment.

The grade can be steep and sustained. If the tour location is at a higher altitude, it will seem more difficult.

We may be outside and away from vehicles for much of the day.
CHALLENGER

Very long walks of more than 8 kilometers.

The terrain can be rugged with significant obstacles. You may encounter loose sand, rocks, and uneven feet.

All participants must be in excellent physical shape, with no mobility or balance problems.

If done as an overnight backpacking trip, you should be able to carry your photography gear along with your overnight gear and food.

The terrain may be of significant and sustained grade. Sections of the hike can be steep and loose.
